Dec 22, 2021

June 7, 2021 — The FDA has approved a drug to help in weight loss among overweight or obese adults.

The drug, semaglutide, "induces weight loss by reducing hunger, increasing feelings of fullness, and thereby helping people eat less and reduce their calorie intake," according to a company statement.

This continued trend remains very interesting and frustrating to me. I recall the same thing was said about Phen-Phen about a decade and a half ago. The same thing was said again about the drug Alli.

The challenge is that Phen-Phen was a later found  to cause lasting damage to the body (including death) and Alli had unwelcome side effects such as 'poor bowel control, diarrhea, weakness, back pain, rectal pain and flu symptoms' among others like symptoms of liver disease.

As I watch the information surface about the new 'game changer' drug, I can't help but wonder what side effects will surface in the future.

In the meantime, I am coaching clients successfully through their weight loss journeys with no need for powders, pills, potions or locations.
